Fatty’s Pub and Grille is excited to welcome back NIU students and staff for the upcoming Spring semester. “It is always refreshing to see the students come back as well as the return of many local patrons that were away for the holiday break,” said pub owner Jeff Dobie.
Fatty’s will start the new year with a variety of entertainment acts and shows. Tonight (Friday, January 17) a special performance by BCR Unplugged. On January 20th a promotional night to honor Bachelors with a half-priced wine selections. February 1st will feature unique entertainment called “A Big Fat Comedy Night”. More information on all upcoming shows this spring will be posted on their Facebook page. The restaurant is also gearing up to welcome another ISHA sports tournament schedule to come to NIU this spring.
“A recent media story with a headline that Fatty’s was for sale was somewhat misleading,” said Dobie. “Every restaurant in DeKalb is for sale or at least has listed its business to understand current trends in restaurant real estates. We placed ours on the market over a year ago after our remodeling project to find values in comparison to other food establishments.”
Jeff Dobie and his family have strong ties and commitments to both Northern Illinois University and the City of DeKalb. “We have been in DeKalb for 20 years and see continued support of the city and university,” said Dobie. “With the addition of continuing Fatty’s, we are looking at additional options for growth and expansion in the coming months.”
“Fatty’s is a major mainstay as both a college and community restaurant establishment,” said Jeff Richardson, the new Chair of the DeKalb Economic Development Commission. “The 20 + years success of Fatty’s Pub is a testament to the quality of leadership of the entire Dobie Family.”
