Ellwood House is Seeking Volunteers

A perfect way to experience one of DeKalb County’s most treasured museums is by volunteering at the Ellwood House Museum in DeKalb.

The Ellwood House will offer a volunteer training series on Tuesday, March 10 and Thursday, March 12 for community members interested in becoming more involved with the museum. Each session will begin at 5:30 PM in the museum’s Visitor Center and last two hours.

The first day of the training series, on March 10, will focus on the story of the Ellwood mansion, and how volunteers can get involved. During the second session on March 12, staff members Donna Gable and Brian Reis will give more in-depth talks focusing on Ellwood’s family members, as well as architecture and restoration.

Both meetings will start at 5:30 PM. The Ellwood House Museum is located at 509 North First Street DeKalb, Illinois. The Visitor Center where volunteers will meet is located behind the 1879 mansion. The parking lot can be reached by traveling west on Augusta Avenue to Linden Place.
