Many of DeKalb County residences were sadden to learn that there would be no Fireworks at Hopkins Park for the July 4th celebration in 2020. Fireworks were also canceled in Kirkland and other local cities.
But starting on Friday, July 3rd, many people had their own fireworks show as seen and heard all over DeKalb County. But the big surprise was when the ‘Kishwaukee Country Club’ became the focal point of the 4th of July with their own private fireworks show that according to members and other local residence rivaled previous Hopkins Park firework shows.
Other DeKalb area families and groups hosting their own mini fireworks shows and activities. Reviewing social media it became apparent that 2020 introduced a throwback to the olden days when families created their own Independence Day celebrations, including fireworks, family gatherings, and picnics.
