The Annual Lincoln Highway Buy-Way Yard Sale is back, with sales concentrated in Illinois from the Kishwaukee River in DeKalb to the Mississippi River in Fulton. The DeKalb Area Women’s Center will have indoor sales Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and will be open late on Friday until 9:00 p.m. Town-wide sales in Fulton will be Friday, August 14 and Saturday, August 15. Rochelle businesses are gearing up to participate and the sales this year will be the same weekend as the Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival, with family-friendly events. In Ashton, there will be 150th Sesquicentennial items available in the Mills Petrie Building.
This year, with the April tornado, the Illinois Chapter of the Lincoln Highway Association decided to reduce the price of a yard sign with a Web site listing and mapping to only $5, to make participating affordable. Anyone wanting a yard sign for $5 can go to the Lincoln Highway Association’s National Tourism Headquarters in Franklin Grove, 136 N. Elm Street, open daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. For more information about registering your yard sale and the $5 sign, please call 815-456-3030.
To find sales, keep checking the Web site through the day before the sales at:

Some folks do wait until the weekend weather predictions come out before deciding to have a yard sale so visit that Web site frequently, through the night before the sales!
The sponsor of the yard sales, the Lincoln Highway Association, is a charitable organization open to all, tracing its roots back to the original organizers of the Lincoln Highway, over a hundred years old. The Lincoln Highway Buy-Way began in Ohio and spread to neighboring states and now spans hundreds of miles across five states. The Lincoln Highway Buy-Way is an annual event, the second full weekend of August.
