This is your last opportunity of the season to support a great group of seniors and show our appreciation to them for being tremendous ambassadors of our university. This game promises to be an exciting matchup between two quality programs, and we would love for any and all Huskie fans to join us in San Diego. The official team hotel is the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina; visit www.sandiegobowlgames.com for other travel options.
Game tickets for the 2015 Poinsettia Bowl can be purchased through Huskie Athletics online or by calling the NIU Athletics Ticket Office in the Convocation Center at 815-753-PACK (7225) during regular business hours. Fans can also watch the game with fellow Huskies at a Poinsettia Bowl watch party.
NIU fans who can’t make it to San Diego to see the Huskies take on the Boise State Broncos can still be part of the bowl experience and support the Huskies through NIU’s “Tickets for Troops” program. Each donated ticket will help brighten the holidays for a service man or woman, veteran or military family member and is a great way to celebrate the season. The deadline to purchase and donate tickets is Friday, Dec. 18, at 5 p.m. CST.
NIU football is a great way to highlight the great things going on at this institution, and we are extremely proud of the team’s many accomplishments both in the classroom and on the field of competition. Some things I would like to acknowledge:
- NIU football had a graduation success rate of 86 percent (No. 1 in the MAC)
- NIU is bowl-eligible for a school and league record for the eighth consecutive season
- Sophomore DB Shawun Lurry was named First Team All-American by the Football Writer’s Association of America, only the second Huskie named to the honor (the first was LeShon Johnson in 1993)
Huskie Nation’s passion for NIU football needs to be showcased in San Diego. We hope for a large and loud group of fans at the Poinsettia Bowl on Dec. 23. I know the administration, coaching staff and players will represent NIU with passion and integrity, and we look forward to seeing you out in California.
Thank you for your support of Huskie Athletics.
Go Huskies!
