At the Monday, April 9, 2018, Committee of the Whole meeting, the DeKalb City Council
will begin discussing the process of searching for DeKalb’s next City Manager.
With the recent resignation of the City Manager on March 26, 2018, the City has a need
to recruit a highly-qualified individual to fill the vacancy. Topics expected to be
discussed by the City Council on Monday include desired qualifications, residency
requirement, scope of the search, and potential interview panelists, among others.
Mayor Smith said, “The task of recruiting the right City Manager is so important to this
community. By dedicating an entire meeting to a discussion on the City Manager
search, we will ensure that the process is effective and will give our citizens a clear idea
of the City Council’s intentions.”
Mayor Smith has pledged to make the search for the next City Manager a process that
includes input and ideas from the entire community.
“We hope that members of our community who have thoughts on the process will come
to the meeting and share their thoughts. Those who cannot attend the meeting should
feel free to contact me or any member of our City Council,” Smith said. “We truly want
this process to be as open and transparent as possible.”
The agenda for the Committee of the Whole meeting is posted on the City’s website.
