Kishwaukee United Way is collaborating with Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois and AARP Tax-Aide to help recruit volunteer tax preparers for the upcoming 2015 tax season. Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois offers free income tax preparation services for low-to-moderate income area residents from January to April each year via its GoodTAXES program located in the Rockford regional area and DeKalb.
AARP Tax-Aide is a free service providing assistance in tax preparation for individuals with low to moderate income with special attention to senior citizens. This service is provided by trained local volunteers who are interested in making a difference in their communities. Volunteers are needed in DeKalb, Sycamore and Genoa.
For either organization’s volunteer tax preparation program, no experience is necessary to volunteer–just a desire to help others. Use existing skills or learn new ones while providing a valuable service to those who need your help.
